Whose responsibility is it to ensure free and fair elections?
We the people can work together and take responsibility to
ensure our votes count.
Become a SODELPA Polling Agent for the 2018 General Elections. Volunteer today - fill the form here http://bit.ly/PollingAgentForm
Agents will receive training on the rules, laws and procedures for the elections. There are also responsibilities for polling agents and rules to follow.
You will vote, and then be part of a team of at least 6 polling agents for your polling station.
You will oversee the voting process, as citizens cast their votes, and then you will watch over the COUNTING of BALLOT PAPERS. When the count is completed, you will record how the votes went. There are a maximum of 500 voters per polling station. Then you will send that record or Protocol of Results to SODELPA HQ. Our people at HQ will then compare and verify the results that are announced by the Fiji Elections Office at the National Result Management Center at the National Gymnasium.
The ballots from the pre-poll, postal ballots and overseas ballots will be counted at the National Count Center at the Vodafone Arena. Polling Agents will also observe the count at the vodafone arena and results will be verified with the official results from the national gymnasium.
Even if you are not an agent, don't just vote and go home. Come back and see what is happening, see how and whether you can support our designated polling agents

Why should I volunteer as a Polling Agent?
We must each take responsibility for our vote, if the authorities cannot be trusted to do so.
IT IS UP TO US AS INDIVIDUALS, TO GUARD AND PROTET OUR OWN VOTE
With only 500 voters maximum per polling station, Fiji will have 2468 polling stations in 2018.
Parties recommended the Electoral Commission increase voters per station to 1000 or 1500, to reduce the number of stations. However the Commission does not see the value in reducing the number of polling stations.
With 2468 polling stations, parties must recruit 7500 volunteers (3 per station in shifts), to observe the vote and the count.
This task cannot be done by one party alone. So in 2018, we are calling on our supporters, on all citizens, to volunteer to be a polling agent.
Please contact us to volunteer. We will train all volunteers and you will be accredited to observe, monitor and audit, the coming elections. It is up to each of us to protect our vote and our elections.
